About Us

Most individual investors put just 3% into alternatives. Institutions allocate over 20%. Not because of access, but because private markets still feel fragmented, opaque, and hard to navigate.

meetperry changes that. Our Modern Family Office™ experience combines expert education, curated access, and purpose-built tools—so the next generation of investors can move smarter, with confidence and context.

meetperry taxonomy
5 main types of alternatives

All alternative Investment Funds are classified by meetperry into 5 main types:

Each Main Category Type has its own sub-category of focus which help to refine the fund mandate and strategy.

Hedge Funds (HF)

Hedge Funds (HF) are open-ended, actively managed, private investment funds that focus their strategies on relatively liquid markets.

Hedge Funds can utilize deep fundamental and technical analysis, relative value, complex trading and risk management technique, leverage and other strategies to produce returns for their investors.

Hedge Funds are actively-managed by their portfolio management and investment teams and focus on generating alpha above their passive, public benchmark alternatives.

Venture Capital (VC)

Venture Capital (VC) funds focus on providing financing, usually in the form of equity, to companies at various stages of their growth path.

Most commonly, venture capital firms are associated with funding startups or emerging companies, as early as the ideation and company formation stage all the way through to acquisition or public exit via IPO.

Venture capital firms generally focus their efforts on certain stages or sectors of a market where they have a defined edge, creating an underlying portfolio of many individual companies.

Private Equity (PE)

Private Equity (PE) is a broad category focused on providing capital, in the form of equity or mezzanine financing, to private companies whose securities are not available to the public.

While venture capital is technically a type of private equity focused on the earliest growth phases of companies, VC has grown to such a degree that it now occupies its own major category for most allocators separate from more pure-play private equity.

Most commonly, private equity is associated with buyout activity (LBOs or MBOs), carveouts, acquisitions of whole or majority positions of companies, or for providing growth equity for expansion or more mature, cash-flow positive businesses.

Private Credit (PC)

Private Credit (PC), also known as Private Debt, describes the growing market for the extension of credit, loans, or debt activity by non-bank lenders.

It is debt instruments, or credit facilities, themselves that make them private debt, since they are not traded in an open market (unlike corporate bonds or bank debt, which are traded OTC and fall under public, liquid credit markets).

These private debt instruments can be extended to both private and public companies. The growth of this industry is a direct response to banks pulling back from riskier financing activities in the wake of the global financial crisis.

Real Assets (RA)

Real Assets typically serve as an inflationary hedge and a source of stable, contractually-driven income, exhibiting low correlation to traditional financial assets (i.e. stocks and bonds).

Real Estate: purchases of property such as office, retail, residential, industrial, among others

Infrastructure: physical asset referring to the purchase of transportation networks (roads, bridges, airports), communication networks (data centers, telecommunications), or utility systems (waste treatment plants, energy pipelines, etc.)

Natural Resources: purchases of commodities such as oil, gas, food, agriculture, minerals, timber, etc.

Real Assets fund managers typically seek equity ownership in larger, project-based activities, specific sectors of the market, or real asset activities that require larger pools of capital from private investors.
